Winc Wine Club Review

July 15, 2020

Since the start of Coronavirus, I read wine sales are up 66% so I know I am not the only one indulging in an extra glass or two while we’re all stuck at home! I joined Winc a couple months ago after seeing a million instagram ads and since they offer a discount just for trying it…I felt like there was nothing to lose so I gave it a try and I am loving it!!

About Winc

Winc was founded in 2012 by Xander Oxman and Geoff McFarlane because of a shared belief that wine should be more accessible: simpler to get and easier to enjoy. They joined forces with winemaker and sommelier Brian Smith to build a personalized wine club that has quickly grown into Winc—a California-based winery offering an online membership experience, with wines that are featured at select retailers and restaurants nationwide.

The Winc team works to curate hundreds of bottles of wines each month to offer something for everyone. I love that you can mix + match your selections so you can try new wines all the time!

How It Works

One of my favorite parts about Winc is the discovery process! To start, Winc asks you a few questions to get to know what types of wine you normally gravitate towards and your flavor profile preferences. Next is the fun part, you’re ‘matched’ with a selection of recommendations and then you can read the reviews, make edits and search through the assortment they’ve curated for you. I have definitely had some suggestions that I wouldn’t have normally picked, but ended up loving!

I really like that they offer a decent range of price points ($12-$40ish per bottle) and that you can read reviews. It’s so hard when you go to a wine store and don’t know exactly what you’re looking for, but Winc takes out the guesswork! Once you choose your bottles they are shipped right to your door so you can enjoy ASAP! So easy!!

Another fun part about the Winc wine club is you actually learn a lot about the wines you’re drinking. I love reading about the tasting notes, what the wine is intended to pair with and the history of the grape varietal. And…lastly, I mean how cute are all of the bottles? I know that shouldn’t matter, but it kind of does and is just such a fun bonus that every bottle is gorgeous!!

My Favorite Winc Wines

This is kind of hard to narrow down because I have really enjoyed all of the wines we’ve tasted, but here have been my favorites to date:

  • 2019 Field Theory® Albariño
  • 2018 Lost Poet® Red Blend
  • 2019 Summer Water® Bubbly Rosé
  • 2019 Loves Me Not® White Blend

So that’s it…I hope you give Winc a try and let me know what you think! Check out their recipes page too for some really delicious looking pairings for your wine.

Cheers! xo
