I have been highlighting my hair for as long as I can remember and while I love the cool icy tones, it definitely takes a toll and my already fine hair can be prone to split ends, breakage, etc. My hair stylist introduced me to Olaplex No1 + No2 a few years ago which are part of the salon only version…I am not exaggerating when I say my hair instantly felt 100x better. It was smoother, fuller, more bouncy, softer…the list could go on, so since that moment I’ve been devoted to Olaplex.
I will say especially with everything going on right now, I think you could easily skip the salon steps No1 + No2 and just start with No3! I’m going to break down each step and how I use it, but feel free to ask any questions in the comments below.
No0 just launched yesterday and I am so excited to try it! Sephora 2-day shipping will have it here before I’m even back from Michigan! No0 is basically like a primer for No3 and supposed to make it even more effective. Olaplex recommends to apply this to dry hair and let it sit for 10 minutes and then add on No3 to sink in for at least an additional 10 minutes… but the longer the better! I will let you all know what I think on my instagram stories once I try it on Sunday!
No3
This is Olaplex’s core product and probably where most people start! This is their ‘Hair Perfector,’ it’s an at-home hair treatment that you can use as a hair mask. The No3 treatment smooths out breakage, restores your hair bond, and leaves your strands super strong! You’ll want to use this before shampoo + conditioner and leave on for at least 10 minutes. I like to leave it on for like 30, but you can even sleep in it overnight for extra benefits! You only need to use it once a week, so this product will last a long time. I do this treatment every Sunday and I still am about halfway through a bottle I bought around last Christmas… a little goes a long way! If you’re buying one Olaplex product this is it!
No4 + No5
Hands down my favorite shampoo + conditioner I have ever used. The shampoo is so luxurious and frothy… it leaves your hair so clean and soft! The condition is one of the thickest conditioners I have ever used and it majorly hydrates my hair, but doesn’t weigh it down at all which is super important to me since my hair is pretty fine! These can be used daily, but I alternate this with my purple shampoo to keep my blonde highlights looking ashy and cool. Use after No3 at least once a week for the best results!
No6
No6 is an after shower styling creme that really does seal everything together and help you get the most out of the treatment. This creme instantly eliminates all frizz and leaves your hair super hydrated. I personally use this daily and love to mix with a couple drops of No7 for some added shine! This is relatively thick so I apply starting about midway through my hair to the ends and not on top just so there is no chance my hair will be weighed down!
No7
The final step is No7 which is a bonding oil for your hair! This is a heat protectant up to 450° which is amazing and it gives a great shine and softness to your hair. If I am just air drying my hair, I might skip No6 and just use this, but it works great paired with No6 before heat styling!
All of the Olaplex products smell amazing and are certified clean beauty by Sephora so you can absolutely feel good about using this brand! Check out their instagram for some really dramatic before/afters of using the product!
