If you follow along with me on Instagram then you probably already know the news… but Andy and I are buying a house!! We close in two weeks and will have about 2.5 months to move, tackle a few projects and get settled. There are quite a few things we need to update like the kitchen, flooring on the first floor, paint, etc… but one of our first big purchases will be a new bed! Our current apartment is absolutely fine, but we are looking forward to really making our room special and that starts with a new bed.
Currently we have a queen size which is getting relocated into our guest room and we’re upgrading to a king bed. I am 100% sure this purchase will be Andy’s favorite thing in the house!
Last summer, I shared some bedroom inspiration but wanted to update now that we’re actually looking at specifics. Can you sense a trend? Effortless traditional seems to be what we’re drawn towards right now. So, we’re still working on all of the details, but here’s what is on our ‘must have’ list so far.
- Upholstered bed (I do not want just a headboard because I’m over having a bed skirt, but if you’re looking for a budget option go with a headboard!) Here are two of our favorites: Lulu + Georgia Adara Bed and the Arhaus Wyller Bed.
- Brass sconces with extendable arms on both sides of the bed
- Bench at the foot of the bed.
- All white bedding (we love these Boll + Branch sheets and this Parachute Duvet)
- Two new bedside tables – still very up in the air on these!
- Area rug for under the bed with potentially another rug layered on top. We will have carpet in our bedroom at least temporarily so I would love to cover as much as possible!
- New drapes – If the rest of the room is super neutral, I am kind of leaning towards something a little moodier like velvet, but I need to think about it!
- We will be using my current white dresser so that will just need to tie in with the rest of the room!
