I have really been struggling with sleep this year… I have a hard time falling asleep + staying asleep. Some of it is due to stress I’m sure, but after doing a bit of research I think part of the problem might be that I am looking at a screen virtually 24/7. Between work, social media, keeping up with friends + now running my blog I definitely get my fair share of digital intake which has taken a toll on my eyes. Enter me picking up a pair of inexpensive blue light glasses last month to see if I notice any difference… my thoughts below.

What is Blue Light?
Computer screens give off a high energy blue light which is adjacent to UV light on the spectrum. This blue light can cause eye strain and lead to headaches, tired eyes, trouble sleeping and dry eyes. Personally, I do get headaches when I stare at a screen for too long so I know that side effect all too well.
Do Blue Light Glasses Work?
Blue light glasses are basically clear, but have the ability to filter out blue light and make it more comfortable to stare at a screen for extended periods of time. Honestly, I have felt such a difference when I wear them especially while using a computer. I haven’t been 100% committed to wearing them while I’m on my phone, but overall my eyes do feel less strained and I notice I’m not squinting nearly as much as I used to. If you have ever felt like your eyes were strained after a looking at a screen I would suggest snagging a pair and seeing for yourself!
Everyday Tip to Know
For every 20 minutes of screen time, look at something at least 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.
